“A Lady’s Guide to First Contact Etiquette”

 Tales of the Talisman, Vol. VI, Issue 1, containing my poem, “A Lady’s Guide to First Contact Etiquette“:

“Every lady knows
visiting alien dignitaries
prefer crustless watercress sandwiches.

A truly prepared hostess always keeps a
          well-stocked larder;
One is never certain when extraterrestrial guests
will land unexpectedly on the lawn . . .

Full poem and more in Vol. VI, Issue 1. Beautiful, glossy, illustrated.  Just $7 from the publisher.

PUSH OF THE SKY an Endeavour Award finalist!

The other finalists: City Without End by Kay Kenyon, Eyes Like Sky and Coal and Moonlight by Cat Rambo, Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs, and Mind Over Ship by David Marusek.

Winner to be announced at OryCon in Portland, Oregon.  I almost hit the floor when publisher of awesomeness Eric T. Reynolds of Hadley Rille Books called me yesterday.  My huge thanks to him.

It’s an enormous thrill just to make the shortlist.  Previous years’ nominees (and winners!) include Ursula K. LeGuin, Brenda Cooper, Ken Scholes, Jerry Oltion, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, Patricia McKillip, Lucius Shepard, Greg Bear, Octavia Butler, C.J. Cherryh, and David Levine.
